We can provide upgrade services for Symantec Netbackup, Symantec Backup Exec, PureDisk, Enterprise Vault, Storage Foundation and VCS

We can provide assistance to the environment up to date. This would include a review of the existing configuration and software versions along with the platforms they run on. A plan is then drawn up detailing the upgrade path for the environment. Followed finally by the upgrade, and testing.

Review

  • Check software versions and the required upgrade path.
  • Check servers meet the minimum specification for the software version / identify OS patch requirement
  • Check that sufficient space is available for upgrades.
  • Ensure that the existing configuration is a clean installation (no partially installed components, or outstanding issues which may impact upgrade procedures)

Plan

  • Detail the steps required to prepare the server for upgrade. (additional disk space, tidy up installations etc..)
  • Detail the steps required to perform the upgrade.
  • Detail the outages to services (requirement for reboots, applications needing to be restarted etc..)
  • Detail the testing required.
  • Detail the back-out procedure (Regression Plan)

Upgrade

  • Execute the upgrade plan.
  • Perform testing to ensure upgrade was successful and environment is functioning as required.
  • If testing fails troubleshoot and resolve or perform back-out procedure.
