Esdebe Consultancy has done a health review for a large multimedia company that was complaining of failed backups. After resolving these backups and providing near 100% backup performance Esdebe Consultancy helped to gain additional work to provide ongoing assistance to 4 sites in upgrades, catalog migrations, hardware refreshes and implementing backup solutions for NAS appliances. Esdebe Consultancy is still engaged with the business in future growth plans assisting in designing a solution which will virtually eliminate tape and use cloud technology to secure data offsite.

Esdebe Consultancy was initially approached to help assist a large government organisation who had discovered that there NetBackup environment was no longer on supported hardware/software and they had acquired a new NAS solution they were unable to backup. Esdebe assisted them in moving this environment to all new hardware/software versions and successfully installed NAS backups.

For a Police Authority Esdebe Consultancy have performed a Catalog Migration. The requirement was to migrate the Netbackup Environments from Unix to Windows. Due to changes in the organisations backup team, support for the old operating system was also no longer present. Using Symantec's proven approach a detailed plan was put together to migrate the NetBackup installation from the old hardware to new hardware and change the underling OS from an unsupportable Solaris to Windows. The cleanup of the existing environments catalog and the large amount of orphaned disk based jobs and disk storage units was carried out to ensure a clean move prior to us migrating to the new environment. The environment was migrated during the day followed by a full testplan run and was in production that night with no loss in backups.

Esdebe Consultancy have also performed Catalog Migration work for A local council. Their requirement was to migrate their netbackup environment from one server to another as the server had many OS/Hardware issues. Using Symantec's proven Catalog Migration approach the data was migrated from one server to the other. Prior to the migration the configuration was examined and it was highlighted that the install did not follow best practise as to the location of the NetBackup install and catalogs. The customer asked if these could be moved as part of the migration so that they would follow the best practise and prevent the server from failing due to full system disks (which they had experienced before). Using a different recognised method the installation was installed as requested and backups succeeded 100% that night.
